Game #1, August 29
DETROIT – Hal Newhouser (2-1) blanked the White Sox on just 2 hits for a 3-0 Tigers victory. Johnny Groth knocked in a pair of runs and George Kell chipped in 3 hits.
Game #2, August 30
DETROIT – Hoot Evers went 4-4 with 4 runs scored and a solo home run to power Detroit to a 6-1 win. Groth added 3 more hits and Kell chipped in 2 more. Fred Hutchinson (1-1) went the distance on the hill.
Game #3, August 31
CHICAGO – Ron Hansen's 3-run walk-off bomb in the B11th salvaged the series for the Sox with an 8-5 win. Eddie Fisher (1-2) notched the win in relief.
