53-Boys of Summer take 3 of 4 from 28-Redbirds

Sportsman Park
GAME 1
Erskine vs Frankhouse.
Dodgers 8, Cardinals 3

Oisk gave up just 2 hits (solo HR's) in an 8 inning effort to notch his 2nd win on the season.  Billy Cox became the inadvertent hitting star after replacing Jackie in the top of the first after the Brooklyn speedster pulled a muscle in his leg.  Cox (2-4) knocked in 2, scored 3 and hit a homer to go along with his gold glove defense.

GAME 2
Loes vs Alexander
Dodgers 6, Cardinals 4

Jackie Robinson returned to the lineup and banged out 3 hits (two doubles).  His normal keystone partner Mr. Harold Reese, affectionately know as Pee Wee knocked in 4 as the Brooks moved their record closer to the .500 mark.

Ebbets Field
GAME 3
Haines vs Meyer
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 1

The Monk (Meyer) preyed on Cardinal hitters all day, but still wasn't able to get the win as the game was knotted at 1 apiece going into the bottom of the 9th.  Redbird starter Jesse Haines began to tire and walked Campy to lead off the frame.  After Skoonj missed the Hit and Run sign and Campy got nailed at second the aforementioned howitzer armed rightfielder blasted on to the warning track for out number 2.  Gilly followed with a double to left and Pee Wee singled him home for the game winner.  Everyone filed out of the rotunda onto McKeever place happy.

GAME 4
Rhem vs Roe
Cardinals 6, Dodgers 4

St. Louis manged to salvage at least one game from this 3 game set.  Dodger hurler Preacher Roe was merely pedestrian as Jim Bottomley (2-4, 2 RBI) and crew banged out 11 hits to beat the home team.
