2001 Athletics vs. 1964 White Sox Split Opening Series

About the only thing managers Mike Hall and Bruce Thomas learned about their clubs during the opening series is that they are wildly inconsistent, and very evenly matched with each other. Scores were almost perfect mirrors of each other with nothing close.

Game 1 (August 16)
OAKLAND -- Miguel Tejada belts 2 home runs and drives in 3 as the A's take the opener 8-2. Tim Hudson is masterful on the mound, yielding just 2 hits in 7.1 innings of work.

Game 2 (August 17)
OAKLAND -- Floyd Robinson is nearly Tejada's double, going 4-5 with a homer and 3 RBI leading to a White Sox 8-2 win. Juan Pizarro is the winning pitcher for the ChiSox allowing 2 runs in 7 IP.

Game 3 (August 18)
CHICAGO -- Joel Horlen keeps the Athletics cooled down with just 2 runs on 3 hits in a 10-2 Pale Hose win. Ron Hansen led the offense with 3 hits and 3 runs. Al Weiss knocked in 3 with a bases clearing triple.

Game 4 (August 19)
CHICAGO -- If you're good at patterns, this game would be predicted to be a 10-2 A's victory. Oh, so close! A's won 10-3 behind Tejada's 4-3-3-3 line, including his 3rd dinger of the year. Cory Lidle gave  up just 2 earned runs in 6.1 for the W.
