'28 A's sweep the '09 Angels blasting five homers in the first two games
followed by a complete game effort from Lefty Grove allowing just one
unearned run in a 3 - 1 win in the finale.

Trailing 5 - 3 going into the bottom of the 7th Bishop and Al Simmons homer
off Weaver and Jimmie Foxx greets reliever Bulger with a homer to give the
A's the 6 - 5 victory. The Angels stranded 12 runners in the loss
Game 2: '09 Angels 4, '28 A's 9
WP: Walberg (2 -1); LP: Saunders, (2 - 2)
HRs: A's - Foxx (5), Dykes (3)
Angels: Rivera (6)
The A's sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the second scoring 6
runs to lead 7 - 0 and then coasted to a 9 -4 win. Foxx with a two run homer
and Jimmy Dykes with a three run shot led the A's assault.
Game 3: '09 Angels 1, '28 A's 3
WP: Lefty Grove (5 -1); LP: Saunders (2 - 2)

Walter French making a rare start doubled in two runs in the second to give
the A's a 2 - 0 lead. The Angels struck back in the third when Juan Rivera
doubled in an unearned run to cut the lead to 2 - f1. Jimmie Foxx homered in
the seventh to give the A's an insurance run and it was more than Lefty
Grove needed as he limited the Angels to one unearned run in the 3 - 1
victory. Grove lowered his ERA to a meager 1.34.
